What is Trezor Suite?
Trezor Suite is the official application developed by SatoshiLabs for managing Trezor hardware wallets. It's available as a desktop application (Windows, macOS, Linux) and as a web app at suite.trezor.io.
The desktop version is recommended because it runs entirely on your machine, doesn't require internet access for most operations, and provides better security than a browser-based solution.
Step 1: Download Trezor Suite
⚠️ IMPORTANT — Only Download from the Official Website
Always download Trezor Suite from trezor.io only. Never download from third-party sites, torrents, or links shared in social media or emails. Verify the file signature before installing.
Visit the official Trezor website
Open your browser and navigate to trezor.io/start. Look for the "Download Trezor Suite" button. The site will automatically detect your operating system.
Download the installer for your OS
Choose your platform: Windows (.exe), macOS (.dmg), or Linux (.AppImage). The file is typically 100–150 MB.
Verify the file signature (recommended)
Download the signature file and verify it matches using GPG or the verification tool provided on the download page. This confirms the file hasn't been tampered with.
Step 2: Connect Your Trezor Device
Use the included USB cable
Connect your Trezor to your computer using the original cable that came in the box. Trezor One uses Micro-USB; newer models (Model T, Safe 3) use USB-C.
Launch Trezor Suite
Open the Trezor Suite app. It will automatically detect the connected device. If not detected, try a different USB port or cable.
Allow Trezor Bridge (if prompted)
Trezor Bridge is a background service that enables communication between Trezor Suite and your device. Install it if prompted — it's part of the official Trezor software.
Step 3: Initial Device Setup
Update firmware (if required)
If your device is new, Trezor Suite will prompt you to install firmware. This is normal. Follow the on-screen instructions and confirm on your device.
Choose: Create new wallet or Recover
Select "Create new wallet" for a fresh setup, or "Recover wallet" if you have an existing recovery seed from a previous wallet.
Set your PIN on the device
You'll be asked to set a PIN directly on your Trezor device. The PIN entry uses a scrambled keypad displayed on the device screen — this prevents keyloggers from capturing it.
Step 4: Backup Your Recovery Seed — The Most Critical Step
⛔ Never Store Your Seed Digitally
Do NOT take a photo, type it in a note app, store in cloud storage, or email it. Anyone who has your seed has complete access to all your funds — forever.
Get a pen and the included recovery card
Your Trezor package includes a recovery card. Use this to write down your 12 or 24 words in the exact order shown on your device screen.
Write each word carefully
The device will show one word at a time. Write it clearly. Double-check the spelling. Do not rush this step.
Store in a secure, fireproof location
Consider making 2 copies and storing them in different secure locations. Metal backup plates (Cryptosteel, etc.) provide extra protection against fire and water.
Step 5: Receiving Cryptocurrency
Select your coin account
In Trezor Suite, click on the account you want to receive to (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum). Click the "Receive" button.
Verify address on device screen
IMPORTANT: Always confirm the address on your Trezor's physical screen matches what's shown in Trezor Suite. Malware can alter addresses on your computer screen.
Share the verified address
Once verified on device, copy the address and share it with the sender. Send a small test amount first when receiving large amounts.
Step 6: Sending Cryptocurrency
Click "Send" on your account
Select the account and amount to send, enter the recipient address. Double-check the address — transactions cannot be reversed.
Review and confirm on device
Your Trezor will display the amount and recipient address. Physically verify everything is correct on the device screen before pressing confirm.
